schools or torture houses!

The other day my colleague said that her previous school had tortured her and she had no other choice but to quit working. In spite of giving papers two months before, she was not paid salary, for those months, and the principal refused to give her back her certificates. It is trend in educational institutions across the twin cities or the two Telugu states, to keep the original certificates with the management. You receive them when you are leaving the institution. Happens at colleges also. But most of them blackmail you to stay or you won't get your certificates back. Which makes me wonder if it is legal. We sign on a paper for that but nowhere it is mentioned that they would try to retain us using them.

There are also schools where teachers are not allowed to sit in a class. The middle aged women with menopause issues, arthritis, or any health condition,  or even healthy one who can get tired standing all day long, can not just SIT in the class room. Once a teacher in her fifties, sat in the class as she had severe leg pain. The principal of the school scolded her for that on the loud speaker before the whole school. We felt bad. But teachers slowly get used to getting insulted, scolded like a baby, meetings after school hours till late evening, never switching off your phone and available all the time, taking correction papers home, etc.  on top of it, we are the least paid employees here.

The other day when I was interacting with my auto driver, I came to know that he does farming in his village, drives auto in the city, and earns double than an average graduate teacher. He didn't even finish his schooling. My servant maid works in 8 houses, earns nearly 25,000 Rupees per month. My post graduate friend who is a Biology teacher is paid peanuts.

Are we the only ones who are facing challenges, difficulties and injustice at the work place, or are there any other professionals like us? We are Experts, we build nation, we make the future. But when the management keeps us unhappy and stressed or worn-out, we become monotonous and mechanical. That may affect the quality of education as well.

I think it is time to CHANGE.  But the big question is WHERE DO WE START AND WHO BRINGS THE CHANGE? IS THERE ANY ONE WHO IS WILLING TO LISTEN TO US? TO PROTECT US? ANY IDEAS? PLEASE COMMENT.

Good education or expensive one?

Is good education necessarily expensive? Are all the so called International schools, and corporate schools really imparting good education and inculcating values in our children?
After the pandemic the classrooms were a chaos. Too much of dependency on others, no values, no social skills, no leaning attributes, no discipline.
It was equally challenging for teachers, students as well as parents.
It was a roller coaster ride.
The other day the so called International school students did not perform upto the mark and  SSC school students excelled their science exhibition.
Then I had the opportunity to visit the PYPX of an IB school, which was impeccable and the students presented research based projects. Not a single ready-made model, that you find parents buying in the CBSE schools.
So which one should I choose for my child? Which one is better? The one which is showing off big picture but is actually average, the one which emphasises on academics but provides no other activities? The one which believes in holistic development and All round development and wholesome education, but very expensive?
That's up to you. But you can't rely only on school. Family values and discipline is also equally important.
I hope all the parents find a perfect balance and solutions to their challenges ìn bringing up their children. All the best.

Not a word about kabaddi world cup in the news papers!!

Kabaddi world cup is going on and the news papers have not mentioned any thing about it. Not a word. They say they want kabaddi to be included in 2020 Olympics.  We have many countries  taking part in this world cup, but newspapers  in their sports  column  want to write about  only cricket. Haa! Pathetic. What kind of reporters do they hire?

And dare I ask why don't  they have any white player in the USA kabaddi team? It seeems a little odd to me.

Anyways,  I love kabaddi and I am happy that it has an international platform now. I only wish the newspapers  write everything  and anything  about all kinds of sports and not just cricket.
